| Note | We know of this man from the marriage certificate of his son, William, to Betsy Cross, nee Stanley. The following notes are from searches carried out trying to recover more detail: This man & wife have been located using the Curch of the Latter Day Saint's database in Utah. The christening record is the only boy named William born in Liverpool to a James Rankin for a number of years either side of 1828 - the year calculated from the census returns of 1881 and 1901. This record shows the surname with an additional 'e', i.e. RANKINE. A visit to the record in Liverpool may clear up this optional spelling. I made a search for this man's marriage, and found one in 1819. This record show his birth in 1794. |
